My dad’s a retired high school football coach. He used to say  football was "a game won from the shoulders up." Basically, brain over brawn was his point.

Watching the Patriots defeat the Steelers yesterday with largely a smarter game plan, I was reminded of my father’s comments and how they might pertain to online recruiting.

Employers throw tons of money around to recruit top talent - usually mimicking their competition’s spending habits. Money at headhunters. Money at newspapers. Money at job fairs. Money at job boards. Money, money, money.

Maybe the key is to use your head a little more than your opponent. Zig when they zag. Search engine optimization and marketing certainly fall into this area.
