Ask Jeeves, a pretty popular secondary search engine, launched a corporate blog this month. What a great idea. It offers photos via Flickr and a variety of comments from employees.
The content is light and personable.
In my opinion, every company’s HR department should start a blog about their organization. Talk about what you’re doing, training, post jobs and pics of company events, etc.
Corporate Web sites are so cold for the most part. A blog is an easy way to put a face on an organization and show some personality for your visitors.
Let others in the company contribute content about what they or their department is doing. I bet you’d be surprised at the number of people who visit your blog just to keep in tune with the organization and its people – Hey, isn’t that Rick from our marketing association? It’ll create buzz.
In addition to adding some spice to your Web site and company, search engines love blogs and can index its content easily. So, adding links to your current openings is a great way to get search engines to notice you.
A few of the most popular blogs include Blogger, Typepad, Blogspot and MSN’s Spaces. Most blogs are free and easy to set-up, without a need to go to your technology department, keeping you in control.

This is right on the money! Companies that don’t have a blog are missing out on a worldful opportunity to expand their company name. It also serves to connect employees.
