My dad, a baby boomer representative nearing his 60s, loves Google. A relative newcomer to the Internet, he loves searching the endless pool of information he can find. From vacation spots to stock information to University of Texas sports updates he can’t get enough.

In regards to Internet recruiting, here’s what the above tells me:

1. My father represents the fastest growing segment of Internet users in America, being those 55-plus.

2. According to The Impending Crisis, a severe labor shortage is on the horizon, leaving many employers to fight for and keep older, more experienced talent because there aren’t enough Gen X’ers out there.

3. My dad couldn’t tell you Monster from HotJobs from CareerBuilder … but he sure knows Google and how to search. ("Hey, Google’s on 60 Minutes, so they must be good," says dad.)

4. When my dad uses Google or any other search engine to look for a job, he’d better be able to find your company and your openings, or you don’t exist.
