This is really cool. SearchEngineWatch has apparently done a very scientific study on how people scan a search engine results page. Google was used for this example:

The more red a section is, the more eyeballs it receives. This same research is probably applicable on how a user views any Web page, but it’s especially telling in terms of where your Web site needs to be in order to get noticed in Google’s results.
