boo! another hotjobs contest

A few weeks ago, I wrote about a contest Monster was having, rewarding a winner with $20,000 worth of travel fun.

I’m not a big fan of contests, believing it does little to drive quality traffic to job listings.

Well color me surprised (not), because Yahoo!’s HotJobs has followed Monster with a new contest of their own, rewarding their winner with $25,000. I’m sure it’s a moral victory to up the ante on Monster’s contest by $5,000.

This contest is particularly asinine because it allows cubicle-ridden workers to play online games, such as outrunning the boss to the printer before they see what you’ve printed.

I’m sure the employers who pay HotJobs will be glad to know they’re subsidizing playtime at work.
