‘blow jobs’ at ebay careers

No, I haven’t turned to the dark side to start pandering Internet porn. Stick with me on this. It’s pretty amusing, and it’s a great lesson in the power of anchor text …

I’m surfing around the Web today, ’cause that’s what I do,  and come across this eBay rip-off site called AZNwhore (I found it while doing link research on eBay, before you get any ideas). Go to the site and you’ll see it looks exactly like eBay.

So, I go to the bottom and see the term "blow jobs," and discover that it links to eBay’s corporate career center, eBay Careers.com. Being the masterful SEO that I at least think I am, I wonder what kind of effect that backlink has on eBay for the term "blow jobs" in the search engines.

Shockingly, a query on MSN search for "blow jobs" puts eBay’s corporate career center as the No. 4 ranked listing – as of 4/27/05 anyway.

I’m sure eBay’s HR department appreciates the traffic, but I’m doubtful it’s the kind of passive audience they hope to attract.
