As with most things in business, if you just follow the money you’ll see why things are done: Why has HotJobs gotten into the vertical job search game? Well, follow the money.

AdWeek reports that Yahoo! "attributed
its sharp increase in second-quarter earnings to the demand for
Internet brand and search advertising. The California-based company
reported $192 million in net income, which is up 70% from last year,
and its marketing services revenue rose 51 percent to $1 billion in the
quarter."

HotJobs’ new model, in short: Aggregate a bunch of job content from all over the Web. Drive traffic. Sell ad space around it. Make big money.
