corporate career centers make good showing in inc. magazine poll

David Manaster writes a nice piece on a recent Inc. Magazine poll of smaller employers and their favorite ways to fill job openings.

The results:
Friends / Colleagues – 44%
Newspaper ads and / or job boards – 22%
Corporate Web site – 22%
Current employees – 15%

This poll is bad news for newspapers and job boards, considering the strong showing by corporate Web sites.

A significant number of large corporations are already begining to abandon print and online postings in favor of the cheaper option of their own site.

The smaller guys – Inc. Magazine’s audience – were supposed to be the safe bet to keep the sacred cows in business. This poll suggests that may not be the case.
