If you’ve ever done a search on Yahoo! - which is likely, I hope - chances are you’ve noticed the highlighted Sponsored Results areas. Businesses bid for that placement, pay by the click, and are ranked accordingly.

It’s pretty interesting to see the amounts sites are bidding for targeted keyphrases. If you don’t have a Yahoo! Search Marketing (YSM) account to see such insider info, never fear.

Here’s a pretty cool free tool that allows anyone to see the bid amounts for keyphrases without having an account: Click here to check it out.

    Wow! Thanks for sharing.

Question: The Overture Keyword Selector Tool tells me that in May 2005 there were 6577 searches for the string “executive recruiter.” Your tool tells me that Netshare.com is bidding $3/click for the top spot in that string. Am I to infer that Netshare is paying $2000/month if they get a 10.14% click through? If so, is that a realistic clickthrough rate?

Also, it seems like it is better to be the “Lucas Group,” who only pays $1.21/click but is closest to the top organic search result. Am I right?
