Webhire, a well-known applicant tracking system (ATS) provider, has launched a new product that integrates Google’s pay-per-click (PPC) solution, AdWords, into the way employers post and manage jobs. The new product is called TalentScope.
Click here for the company release.
According to the company:
Webhire simplifies the process of buying keyword ad placements by
offering a turnkey package customized to the jobs customers are trying
to fill, monitoring results of the campaign and automatically reporting
those results back to the employer …
Webhire’s Google Qualified AdWords Professionals work with Webhire
clients to determine the most appropriate keywords and content topics,
then strategically place context-sensitive ads with major search
engines.
As far as I know, this is the first ATS provider to directly implement the use of Google’s PPC advertising into its solution. Well done. Hopefully they’ll also be adding Yahoo! Search Marketing (formerly Overture) to their solution as well, if they haven’t already (it wasn’t mentioned in the release).
Of someone already using the product:
"We’ve made over 100,000 impressions of our brand to a targeted
audience for a fraction of the cost it would take to reach that many
people with traditional recruitment advertising," said John Higgins,
Senior Manager, Talent Acquisition at G&K Services, a Webhire
customer and early adopter of TalentScope. "We are excited about the
possibilities of this program’s ability to extend our advertising
budget, leverage our employment brand and help us build relationships
with these potential candidates over time."
If PPC is going to grab hold of the employer consciousness, agencies and applicant tracking players will have to make a significant contribution. With the number of PPC programs increasing (Ask.com released theirs last month, and MSN is projected to do likewise in October), many employers will need some handholding figuring out all their options.
Webhire TalentScope certainly seems to be taking a nice step in moving things forward. Here’s to hoping others follow their lead … sooner rather than later.

Joel, interesting idea that webhire had…oh yeah I had it first.
Careermetasearch.com a subscription, enterprise-level job board that works closely with companies interested in increasing their recruitment results through the utilization of cost-effective marketing tools and techniques.
First in the market to provide a “quality of candidate approach” via customized job postings, Careermetasearch.com’s proprietary Push Posting technology extracts keywords from job descriptions and inserts them into a variety of proven keyword advertising methods.
This is accomplished through creating custom job marketing solutions tapping the passive candidate market. Employers receive quality semi-active and passive candidates from these customized job postings.
