"So, you’re the crazy guy who goes on last to entertain us?"
I was initially unnerved by this comment as I prepared to speak at last week’s Onrec Conference in Belgium.
However, after thinking about it awhile, I was OK with it.
I mean, isn’t that the essence of today’s most successful brands? Supporters of products, services or personalities aren’t likely to be told what they should think about you. They’re most likely to make up their own minds.
Today’s business environment is the ultimate democracy.
Do I want to be known as "the crazy guy" to some? That wasn’t necessarily what I set out to do, but at the end of the day, I’m not the one in control.
By just being myself, some people are certain to gravitate toward me, while others aren’t. Either way is alright.
In your own business, don’t worry so much about building a position or providing a unique selling proposition. Give your users, customers and supporters the best experience possible, be true to yourself and the rest will take care of itself.
