OK: I just spent 20 minutes trying to figure out how to give these guys my two bucks, and I’m stumped. How in the hell do I submit my site to Skaffe? What am I missing?

I disagree. Google doesn’t like CRAPPY directories. If they didn’t like directories, as you proclaim, they wouldn’t have one of their own (http://www.google.com/dirhp).

PageRank’s not going anywhere if they’re smart. It’s an intricate part of Google’s brand.

Google does not like directories despite ranking them with the (soon to be gone) PageRank. Purchasing what you’re calling a “back link” will do nothing for your PR if the link comes from a directory full of other links and the content surounding the link isn’t relevant to the link’s destination. It’s not as much of a popularity contest now as it used to be… it’s heading towards pure relevance.
