Decisions. Decisions.

For some reason, the employers I talk with hate the term jobs.

Companies don’t have jobs. They have careers, opportunities and employment.

The problem is the vast majority of people searching for jobs online at search engines do use jobs.

Here’s a quick breakdown based on approximate daily searches:

  • jobs – 23,000
  • employment – 5,000
  • careers – 2,000

Now, have a balance. Use all of the above when optimizing your Web site, if it doesn’t mess with the user experience (and it shouldn’t, if you’re doing it right).

My point is, to Google, Yahoo!, MSN and other search engines, jobs isn’t a dirty word. To job seekers, jobs isn’t a dirty word.

It shouldn’t to employers either.
