cheesman’s predictions for 2006

December 30th, 2005

Here are my Top 5 pre-dictions for 2006, in no particular order:
1. It’s litigation, baby! - Like parents shut-ting down a good party, expect the lawyers to come out in full force in 2006. Between privacy concerns, content rights, technology ownership and everything in between, lawyers will be busy throwing around the wet blankets.
2. Acquisition […]

seo labor market (or, have you hugged your seo today?)

December 29th, 2005

SEO is hard. And it’s getting more and more difficult.
That’s a good thing.
I spoke with an SEO veteran earlier this week. He was really down.
"SEO just isn’t what it used to be," he said. "I remember the days when competition was scarce and a few relatively simple tricks were enough to get you […]

Why? Amazon is now rewarding its users with up to 1.57 percent going toward Amazon purchases for using their search over rivals like Google […]

best of 2005 in online recruitment

December 23rd, 2005

My personal choices for 2005’s ‘best of’ in Internet recruiting:
1. Vertical job search - Simply Hired, Indeed, Jobster and Oodle are hoping to carve their own place in search history and beat Google to the punch. Next trick: Make real money or be acquired; add more corporate content to the index.
2. Google Base - The […]

google tinkering with adding images in adwords

December 22nd, 2005

Well, they’ve done it. Google is testing the bounds of adding images to their highly successful text-only advertising model known as AdWords:

The effect on online recruitment is a bit unclear, but envisioning a future where advertisers can easily add their logos, or other images, to such ads isn’t a stretch.
And if that’s the case, I’d […]
