I believe blogs will become a part of the job seekers toolbox. Especialy for the younger generation of job seekers. They could become the 21st century résumé. Anyone who works in Information Technology should have one. If you want to be considered "web-savvy", a blog and or website is a good complement to the paper resume.

In France, more and more jobseekers create a blog to increase their chances to be noticed and recruited. I already know five people who've been recruited thank to their blog... Let's see what will happen in the coming years...

Well, if you're going to give away all my business ideas, I guess I better weigh in.

Blogs as resumes - just like some businesses are great for blogging (those with retail customers), and some are not (scientific research, b-to-b generic brands - there will be some people with good blogging presence.

List of good potentials:
Writers of any stripe - from tech writers to screenplay sellers.
Technical Architects and software developers focused in open source arenas.
Small business owners
Consulting/professional services.

The Wrong people to blog:
technicians
office temps
Transactional Salespeople
Managers
Corporate Lawyers.

The blog will be a tool for early adopters - but the real question is whether it can be adopted, in any form for the masses.

Not everyone writes well - and writing online is a steep learning curve. Do people really want their names out with their first efforts?
