Well, they’ve done it. Google is testing the bounds of adding images to their highly successful text-only advertising model known as AdWords:

The effect on online recruitment is a bit unclear, but envisioning a future where advertisers can easily add their logos, or other images, to such ads isn’t a stretch.

And if that’s the case, I’d have to imagine the advantage goes to established brands, whether it be well-known employers or job sites.

Likewise, it could also help up-and-coming brands gain some brand traction in very specific niche markets.

On a side note, there is a lot of room here to be creative. I don’t see this being a problem in job search, but I expect photos of bikini-clad women (and worse) to start showing up in searches that have nothing to do with women, bikinis, or women in bikinis. Do some searches on eBay for examples.

Either way, expect being able to add images to your AdWords campaigns to be a reality in 2006. What will your strategy be?
