Came across the following ad when doing a search for "jobs" on Google. It isn’t widespread for a lot of related searches from what I can tell, but I suspect it’s just a matter of time … I mean, it’s not like Google would have to pay for the advertising.

Just for the record, “Base” from Google doesn’t offer anything more than basic information posting, as far as jobs -or anything else- is concerned.

Out of curiosity, I posted a few interesting jobs on Google Base and it appears nobody even visited the pages… which is surprising considering this is the mighty Google, after all.

A close friend posted on GB for an entirely different reason and was also very unimpressed (no answer, whatsoever).

Maybe GB will get better over time but right now, it’s probably safe to say although lots of people may be posting, not too many are actively “reading”!

Have some other users had success with GB?

Last week, Google added an intermediate page to job links and other submissions to Google Base. Instead of pointing directly to the URL that was submitted for the job – the user will now first land on a “jump page” so that the user can get “more information” before clicking on to the destination page. What is your take on this? Feel free to read our comments here – http://www.exceler8ion.com/2006/01/02/google-base-adds-intermediate-jump-pages-to-jobs-links/
