… shape of, Super Search Engine.

Alert the Hall of Justice and the Super Friends, rumors are heating up that Yahoo! and Microsoft are courting each other to create a partnership that would build a Google killer, taking on Google’s prominence in search that was recently solidified by a deal done with AOL.

According to ComputerWord:

Microsoft may be cooking up a major
Internet partnership to rival Google’s newly bolstered relationship
with American Online (AOL), according to a blog posting by a Microsoft
manager.

I give little credence to this rumbling. MSN and Yahoo! are very different companies with very different objectives … but hey, stranger things have happened in this space.

you just assumed ‘a priori’ that it was yahoo, but a comment in the original posting pointed to amazon as another potential partner (what with a9 and the rest)
