How will Google Base or a more evolved classifieds offering from Google make money? This should give us a clue (click on image to enlarge):

Do a local search for New York hotels. Notice the sponsored links (circled in red above)? Well, there’s your revenue producer.

Google Base’s look and feel, for those of you who haven’t been there, is very similar to this screen grab.
