Budgets and ROIs excluded, is it better for people to buzz about your product because of a cutesy, monkey-centric ad or because of better, user-centric services?

Joel – my clients typcially expect one common thing…. results. Monkeys may make us laugh, but do they help us find candidates?

Joel,
Thanks for linking to us. Whatever Careerbuilder says in their Super Bowl ad, it’s clear they continue to be zoologically challenged in confusing Chimps and Monkeys, two distinct species:

Comparing the kind of information in a Super Bowl ad with the information in a corporate Blog is comparing apples & oranges.
Would a Super Bowl ad be effective if it told viewers about the latest firefox plug-in for the site?

*** THE ORIGIN OF THIS POST’S IP ADDRESS RESIDES AT MODEM MEDIA – NOT SURPRISINGLY, THE COMPANY THAT PROVIDED DICE WITH THE SOLUTION NOTED BELOW. NO WONDER THEY’RE A FAN. ***
monkey buzz is better – i don’t really consider posting on your own corporate blog about your features as a “buzz” generating tactic.
big budget monkeys missed the mark though, they already have broad awareness, they need to drive us good candidates but there’s absolutely no call to action on that microsite about job searching… more likely to get a real candidate from Dice viral as opposed to the monkeys.

funny, relevant, not as slick…slow and grainy video, but at a bare minimum this has calls to action to drive candidates to do something…

I cannot believe how much money is still spent on Super Bowl adverts – do they really get an ROI??

to be fair – I’m freelance hr – yes on a gig for modem – but not a part of the account team. i’m mainly a tech/web recruiter so i am probably jaded by that too. oh and add that i have general dislike for the big boards too. ;-) -tc
