Last month, I talked about Google’s mash-up of its popular AdWords solutions with newspaper print ads in the Chicago Sun.

Now Google is diving into the world of magazine ads and online auctions, as revealed in their AdWords blog.

Via your AdWords account, bid on advertising in periodicals ranging from technology to lifestyle to automotive.

Looking for tech talent? Consider bidding on ad real estate in Computer World magazine. Available sizes include 1/4, 1/2 and full page.

Advertising in magazines via Google is sure to stir-up a lot of buzz, but I also think the auction-style sale is just as intriguing. There’s been talk for years about Google launching a competitor to eBay, and this may be the precursor to such an offering.

As a result, I (as well as eBay) will be watching this very closely.
