First Amazon’s A9, and now this.

According to CNET, it looks like Yahoo! will soon be offering rewards for choosing its search engine over their rivals.

Writer Elinor Mills cover this topic and indicates that choosers could get everything from Netflix discounts to free music downloads.

Will it work? Sure. The question is what percent of users will jump ship from Google to save a few bucks. However, in the world of search, a small percentage swing in traffic means a lot of extra dollars on the bottom line.

Next question: Will any job sites follow this strategy and offer freebies to job seekers in order to retain loyalty in light of increasing competition?
