First Amazon’s A9. Then Yahoo!

Now MSN wants to reward frequent users of their search engine.

A long list of the prizes reveals a myriad of gift certificates and Microsoft freebies. It looks as though winners are rewarded randomly, and must act when they see "MSN Search and Win."

I love seeing the search wars heat up like this. 1) What will Google do, if anything? 2) Will MSN put any meat behind this via smart advertising? and most importantly, 3) Will it work in landing MSN search some decent marketshare, where they’ve been lagging around 12 percent for a long time?

As far as the SEOs I know, I’m sure they’d love to see MSN move up in traffic for the simple fact that MSN is the easiest of the engines to manipulate and understand from an organic rankings standpoint.

All of my clients, for example, rank very well for targeted keyphrases on MSN in the least amount of turnaround time. In fact, if you have an SEO and aren’t ranking well on MSN search, get yourself a new search engine optimizer.
