google base job content integration into web search : screenshots captured

March 21st, 2006

Wondering how Google will integrate its Base job content into its Web search? Here are a couple of nice screenshots I was able to capture that serve as a window to the future:

I fully expect the integration of Base job content to have a major impact on the online recruitment industry. This should help prove that point. Before too long, Google will have the No. 1 search result for all job-related searches.

How will job sites, employers and job seekers behave in light of this upcoming change? Stay tuned. It will be interesting. This changes everything.

Vast.com has an open api of 4.8 Millions Jobs (plus millions of cars and personals) that other search engines can add into their results pages tomorrow! They can use it for commercial purposes, and be first to market on this. Why don’t they?

Google’s foray into the ‘jobs’ category was to be expected, and should be welcomed. No doubt the online recruitment landscape is changing. Regardless of when, if ever, the dust settles - let’s make job search results relevance the topic of choice!

This move is indeed to be expected. The only way vertical job sites will thrive is with added value. Going beyond mere vacancy identification for the job seeker; going beyond simple advertizing for employers… there is going to be an ever increasing need for service providers to help reel in smaller pools of VERY well qualified candidates, just as headhunters do.
