something afoot with jobster and typepad?

When logging into MyJobster today, I found a new section labeled Power User Tools. And under this area is the ability to add a Jobster job feed (or widget) to my Typepad blog – for free, of course.

Following the process, I can customize my own job feed, say based on my geographical area and job category of choice. The feed then integrates into my Typepad blog by way of cutting-and-pasting of code or uploading directly via my Typepad username and password. I’m also offered the chance to win a free Typepad account for my efforts.

For now, it doesn’t look as if there is any benefit to doing this from a monetary standpoint – as in Jobster pays me to publish their job listings on my blog – but it would be a whole lot cooler if there was.

It does, however, offer an easy way for recruiters who blog and have a Jobster account to add their own jobs to their Typepad blog. I’m sure a good number of Typepad faithful will just do it for fun.

Another interesting angle is the fact that Recruiting.com currently allows users to set-up a blog at no cost. According to Recruiting.com’s fearless leader, Jason Davis, a surprisingly large amount of blogs have been set-up to date, and I believe he uses Typepad as its backend.

So, if Jobster (who already partners/advertises with Recruiting.com) can integrate itself into Recruiting.com’s network of recruiting bloggers, we could see a lot of Jobster widgets popping up all over the recruiting blogosphere … and a bunch of new Jobster clients as a result.

Great possibilities. Shouldn’t you be charging both the Jason’s for giving them business ideas if they haven’t thought of them now ? ;-)

I think the other big market apart from recruiters that are waiting to be tapped is the VC community. A surprisingly large number of them blog and they can be effective jobster ‘agents’ too.

You are exactly right Gautam. I bought Joel dinner last night at a great steak place in Toronto. It’s partial payback. There’s lots of time.
