a word on who’ll be missing america’s job bank

So they’re flushing America’s Job Bank down the drain, huh? Here a few sites who might miss the Old Man once he’s gone: Indeed, SimplyHired, and Jobster.

Why?

Because each of the above vertical job search engines seem to rely pretty heavily on AJB for content. From direct employers to major job board players, AJB serves as a candy store for sites hoping to aggregate its content without much hassle.

Both CareerBuilder and HotJobs upload their content into AJB, and rumor has it Monster even sends the site content. So, if CareerBuilder wanted to block the kids at SimplyHired from scraping its content, they could still get their hands on it via AJB.

I personally won’t miss AJB, but I suspect some of the most unlikely suspects will.

Sidenote: If AJB’s URL goes on the auction block, an up-and-coming site would be very wise to snatch it up for search engine ranking purposes. The site is a PageRank 8/10 and has been around forever. Very trusted.
