simplyhired secures $13.5 million funding from murdoch, others … to integrate with myspace

April 19th, 2006

It’s already been a great week for SimplyHired. A news story today reveals the vertical job search engine has nailed down $13.5 million in new VC. Fox Interactive Media, owned by Rupert Murdoch, has thrown in $3.5 million, while Foundation Capital will throw in an additional $10 million.

Add the fact that WebProNews is reporting SimplyHired’s listings will be integrated into mega-destination site MySpace and potentially Fox Interactive properties like AmericanIdol.com, and I’m sure they’re popping open the champagne as I type or are still partying from last night like it’s 1999 all over again.

Things over at SimplyHired (and vertical search in general) had been pretty quiet for awhile. This behind the scenes wheelin’ and dealin’ is obviously why. Congrats on closing this deal. I’m anxious to see what’s next in this space.

On a side note, SimplyHired has been optimizing their site for search engines lately like their hair’s on fire. They’re popping up in all the neighborhoods I frequent, places they hadn’t just weeks ago. They clearly have someone (not me) working for them who knows what they’re doing, as well as the budget behind them to make things happen. Verticals Indeed and Jobster have yet to show similar signs of such an aggressive optimization strategy.

Should be a fun summer. SimplyHired just raised the bar in a big way.

  1. Steven Rothberg Says:

SimplyHired has a SEO expert working for them and that expert is not you? So does that mean that you’re not a SEO expert or that there is someone else out there who is as good as you? Given that you’re definitely a SEO expert, that must mean that you have an unknown twin out there. Hmm. Separated at birth. And I thought that they broke the mold when you were born. :)

you’re wrong about one thing tho — i don’t have enough hair left to be at risk of fire. such is life in the fast lane at simply hired. not even time for r*gaine.
