Go to any Doctors office and look for the magazine racks or tables in the waitingroom. I actually took a day away from my healthcare recruiting business to find out what manner of advertising doctors aided and abetted in by buying and then displaying magazines and newspapers in their practice. First I scoped out the patient profiles, which was a mix of young and old, male & female. The newspapers were in disarray with the crossword puzzle page seeing the most action. Magazines were out of date by months and this being the last week of May '06 when I performed this non-scientific chore, a majority of these magazines were '05 editions. Yes I saw magazines in these lobbys and waiting rooms that catered to healthcare and Hospitals were actually advertising for all manner of help. They were thoughtful enough to list an email address & contact name however. On to the library where I found 'updated' information with much of the same except in this case I viewed regional newspapers that were replete with jobs but NO email address and these hiring authorities were asking you to apply for the job by "please mail resumes to this address." I've given up trying to convince them to add online posting to their recruiting efforts. They just dont believe nurses are online! Such narrow minded thinking will only serve to exacerbate the issue.
