I live my life for the stars that shine / People say it’s just a waste of time /
When they said I should feed my head / That to me was just a day in bed/
Tonight I’m a rock ‘n’ roll star

Nice follow-up by ClickZ on the auction entitled “Blog-ebrity Endorsement.” When I talked to John Sumser at Kennedy a few weeks back, he said something along the lines of, “I’m not exactly sure what’s behind blogs like yours and J.D.’s, but it seems like something big.”

I’m admittedly as surprised by my blog auction’s outcome as anyone else. Maybe even more. But I’m also inspired by the potential it represents for blogs to become legitimate marketing mediums. The acquisition of Recruiting.com is equally telling.

Promoting your company is a little like starting a fire. You light the driest tinder and hope your product or service is hot enough to spread. The blogosphere represents this quickest, most efficient way to spread the word about your company. Even journalists - the former road to word-of-mouth riches - are now relying on the blogerati for what’s buzzworthy.

The equation’s simple: Create something remarkable, light-up the blogosphere and hope for a wildfire. If the current state of blogging holds true and continues to grow, today’s niche bloggers might just be the rock stars of tomorrow.
