Articles

A few noteworthy items from Day One at SHRM:

  • The rain in D.C. is a real downer.
  • The vendors I’ve spoken to all believe last year’s San Diego show was “much better.”
  • Monster has clearly spent a lot of money on this event.
  • Jobster is strangely absent from the expo hall.
  • SimplyHired, H3 and Market10 are also absent.
  • Indeed is here.
  • Background checks are big business.
  • The information overload is deafening. The ability for a business to cut through is nearly impossible.

Of the above, Jobster’s absence is the most surprising. Cutting through the clutter is largely due to having a product or service that’s unique. Being the only referral service on the expo floor would have given Jobster a good headstart. Also, just being here helps give any company some well-needed credibility.
