monster beta testing new job search

Looks like somebody may actually be awake at Monster.

It took a few pages of spam to reach my destination, but I see Monster is beta testing a new job search solution dubbed Instant Job Search (need acct. to access).

It’s a bit of traditional job search, a dash of vertical search (results are presented by relevancy, as opposed to date, by default), a pinch of niche (you can only see jobs up to a 70 mile radius … I guess that qualifies as an attempt at being a local offering), and an introduction of AJAX (programming that allows users to see new content without going to a new Web page).

I’ll be interested to see where this goes. Employers will certainly appreciate the greater emphasis on filtering out applicants in Bombay for postitions in Cleveland. Job seekers should take to the quick-search technology that AJAX brings. I know I love its use in Gmail.

It’s about time Monster showed me something. Competition is good for business.
