Articles

Things I think I think immediately following the Onrec conference:

  1. MySpace is a hot topic.
  2. Blogs are a mega-hot topic.
  3. The internationality of Onrec conferences is cool.
  4. Two Sumsers are better than one.
  5. The world beyond America doesn’t like George Bush.
  6. None of the verticals were represented.
  7. I prefer the chicken option over fish.
  8. The world is pretty evenly divided between people who agree with me and those who don’t.
  9. Classified Intelligence is releasing a survey that says general job sites are preferred to niche sites by employers, but I don’t believe it.
  10. The Establishment isn’t prepared for what’s coming.
  11. Wiki what?
  12. Sites targeting Vets are big. War is good for business apparently.
  13. People with accents sound way smarter than me.

Overall, it was a great conference. I was definitely in my element and really enjoyed connecting with my peers. Kudos also to Onrec for putting on a respectable showing in light of ERE occuring in tandem.

I wish I was able to leave home to go conferences. However, I can’t leave my dad alone.

Myspace is big. I have been experimenting with a myspace page for awhile now, and have to say that they have alot of problems with their software. However, it is a massive community site that should not be taken for granted.

A lot of things have changed since the attacks on September 11th. For starters, patriotism is at an all time high. You probably would not know it with all the anti-american rhetoric on the news. It is a wonder why local and national news are struggling for ratings.

Anyway, anything that deals with supporting our troops is a good thing. I think it is best use by a company to show support for the troops as part of their community relations effort, not to directly profit from it.

    Dear Mr. Cheezhead,

You were at your fantastic cheesiness at the presentation. Congratulations!

Only one question - how’s Rocky?

Oh and another question, how did the videos turn out?

    Kind Regards,
    Bulldog

In regards to number 7, I certainly must concur on the chicken being the superior (not lake) lunch!

Refering to number 12, I’d have to say those stats on vet workforce performance would have been much more useful to me at age 17 and that they should try using them in recruiting!

As for #3, I found the international perspective refreshing as there is much to learn from best practices regarding data (Sweden) and salary transparency Britian versus Germany - I personally favor Britian’s view on this and wish we had it here in the USA as I know people that have wasted time and even vacation days on a job they later learned they would never even consider taking.

I’m surprised you didn’t comment on the number of letters in the alphabet. #10 is important enought that I will post about it more myself.
