jobing adds spidered content

Jobing, a success story out of Phoenix actively growing into other local markets, is adding spidered job content from sites like Dice into normal search results in at least one of their markets (sample search).

Their spidering technology looks homemade, but I’m not certain that it is. Regardless of that fact, it’s interesting to see a leader in local job board success start to dip its toe into such waters.

Before too long, every job board is going to have the same content.

Success, like with search engines, will lie in monetizing the free content and delivering the best results quickly and intuitively, while providing additional, non-job related content that attracts an in-demand audience.

Spidering allows any job board to add content. Yippee!!! But to what expense to the jobseeker. In this case, A jobseeker has to travel through 3 job boards to find the actual job and apply. In my eyes - it is a sure fire way to lose jobseekers (aka readers in the publishing world). There is no reason to visit a site that simply offers content that is taken from others. Original content rules!!!

Original content - that would be the employers careersite then. Fell into that one - duh!

Vertical search is where online recruiting headed. Hopefully more companies will finally figure it out that they need to get back to basics; they need to get back to serving their customers. Isn’t that who really pays them. A website that makes it easier for a job seeker (i.e. a customer) to find a job. Sounds like getting back to the basics to me.
