Let's say that comScore's numbers are even half true. That means that at least a few people over the age of 25 are taking advantage of social networking resources. That means more people and the content that they are sharing will be making its way to the social networking communities too. Look at Linkedin, MySpace and Jobster – these communities are evidence that people in the professional world and not just teens are active participants and not just bystanders.

I agree you can call yourself whatever you want on the web, including a qualified candidate in a resume database. I have a myspace account and so do most of my friends and guess what..? We're all 30+! Now I understand my network only represents about 200 or so people, but I think it's happening more than you think. Hence the reserach.

You do realize that there is a 0% chance of 51.6% of users being over 35 on myspace. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that 95% of users on myspace are probably lying, and lying badly. Hell Joel, you can be an 18/f/Ft. Lauderdale myspace user RIGHT NOW! It's there for the taking and I'm sure you'll have been the first middle aged male to do it. :)
