It was just a matter of time.

A new site called vFlyer allows users to create classifieds that are considerably more attractive than the text-only ads that have become so commonplace.

vFlyer

The service is free and all listings get pushed out to SimplyHired, Oodle, Vast, Edgeio and Google Base. I was surprised to hear that Indeed, Jobster and HotJobs weren’t on their list, but hopefully that will change.

I’m of the opinion that a good number of employers would like to have a free solution that gets their jobs out to all the verticals - particularly smaller companies. If the ad can be visually appealing, all the better.

I do, however, believe the concept of a well-designed job ad will fall short with most employers. (Heaven forbid someone take on the initiative to learn a little HTML or have a Webmaster make a template.)

Regardless, hopefully vFlyer, and the sites it’s sure to spawn, will help speed up the adoption process. The code, for example, is easy to plug into Craiglist via a copy/paste function.

No doubt the concept of vFlyer works much better when selling a car or a house, where photos and appealing design are important pieces of making a sale. That said, if you’re an employer looking for a free option to get your job pushed out to a variety of verticals in a visually pleasant way, vFlyer is an option worth investigating.

An interview with the founders revealed a marketing plan of word-of-mouth and PR. Each ad will also feature the company’s brand and links back to the site. Future revenue will come via larger accounts.

VFlyer, however, will not be a destination to search classifieds, saying they don’t want to create unnecessary competition for their customers or partners. Checkout a sample listing.
