craigslist fees coming to 4 new cities

If you live and recruit in San Diego, Seattle, Washington, D.C. or Boston, Craigslist is about to get a little more expensive.

According to BostonHerald.com, the classifieds site will be charging $25-per-post in those cities starting Oct. 22.

Says Craig, the move is to keep out spammy, fraudulent and just plain crappy listings. The move will decrease the quantity of postings, while maintaining a certain level of quality.

The site already charges $75-per-posting in San Francisco and $25-per-posting in New York City and Los Angeles. All other metros are free.

Quality over quantity. Now there’s a novel idea.

It is still a bargain! Monster and CareerBuilder charge $395 for single job posting. CrunchBoard, a blog with jobs, charges $200 for a job posting. Still a bargain to use Craigslist.

I still do not get the price at CrunchBoard. There must be something else that they are offering to warrant the $200 charge.
