I get asked a lot about good examples of corporate blogs. I don’t have a really great answer. But that may be changing.
Intel’s IT department has recently launched a blog, and I think it’s a great blueprint for other companies and employers to follow. It incorporates a variety of department bloggers, supported by profiles, so creating content should be easier than the “army of one” approach.
More to come from Intel? The URL structure seems to be set-up for additional departments in the future, but IT was the department of choice starting out, I’m sure.
Hopefully, the content will remain fresh and the most vivacious bloggers will get their own platforms. By so doing, Intel is assuring themselves a nice piece of searchable real estate on the Web, putting a face to an otherwise faceless department, and building a greater connection with prospects, clients current employees and the world at large.
Granted, the blog isn’t perfect. For example, job opportunities aren’t represented. What’s up with that? Big picture, however, Intel has made a nice start. Thumbs up.
Now, where’s your blog?
