Many of your commentators are correct "Me thinks they protest too much". At netprofiled www.netprofiled.com we sit and watch carefully the exciting and wonderful developments that are taking place in the wonderful world of the Internet. Yes now we have a truely democratic and organic social media that is driven by intelligent and capable people who have a right to have their say. Myspace and Utube provide a beautiful forum for us all to be open and critical and be held accountable and put under the spotlight. At netprofiled we agree with many of the comments. Why don't Monster understand how things have changed, why don't they innovate and embrace this wonderful opportunity to go and look at themselves. Yes you are right, dinosaur thinking usually means you become extinct. Here's to all the Internet businesses thant can embrace the future!!!!

Joel,

You rebel you... ;)

Actually, it's more than just Monster that is crap. Almost of them are crap.

They allow access to random people to scrape data and spam, on many of the boards, nothing is required other than payment. Sometimes that isn't even necessary. One dirty secret is that this industry profits from spam, plain and simple.

Secondarily, nobody has yet built a system that identifies high quality education, high company growth experience and thought leadership via speeches. I have all three of these coveted assets yet these systems treat me as if I don't have a GED and the only thing that matters is my last role held. Nothing can truly replace a hiring authorities' team in judging what is truly the right candidate.

It needs serious work, we are not allocating our best and brightest to the most challenging growth opportunities currently and this has serious prodcutivity costs in our society.

Hi-larious!

And corporations wonder why they cannot recruit quality people to their organizations.

Because they do not want to work with or for people with the "Monster" mentality. An age of Corporate McCarthyism....can't lie, cheat and steal results through sneaky accounting practices, so lets sic the lawyers on the competition.

Seriously Mr. Teplitsky, go back to communications school...clearly you have the time.

Robert & Julian both have the right philosophy....direct your energy to the future and be positive about future success.

Joel - you have now become my absolute "must read". Keep up the great work.

As Robert Cenek aptly put it "High flying organizations do not worry about videos at You Tube." I would say that it's perfectly normal for high flying companies to be concerned with criticism of their brand and product, but they don't react by rolling out the brand police (aka lawyers and counter strike PR efforts).

Monster really missed out on a golden opportunity here to skillfully rebut Jason's assertions. Jason was expressing his opinion as a competitor, and we all recognized that he did so as a disruptor to Monster. Jason's comments touched on a truth that we all recognize though which is why they stung Monster. It's just one truth though, isn't it? If Monster wrote a non-defensive comment on your site, pointing out key facts about how their business helps its customers, they could have charmed your readers and maybe even made Jason out to be the bad guy, even with his admitted advantage as a 'David' in this situation. Chalk it up to another example of how old command and control methods blow up in the face of the 'controller' in today's transparent world of social media.

High flying organizations do not worry about videos at You Tube. Heck, even our Pez....I mean our intellectually challenged Prez does not worry about being maligned at the site. Why should Monster?

The key point is that their organization is built on a business model that is losing steam. They may be better served to place more energy into refurbushing or morphing their business model (and their leadership team) vs. shifting into defensive posturing.
