It’s safe to say that Simply Hired’s stock rose quite a bit in my book this past week at the Kennedy Conference.

In the midst of attending their small, intimate after hours event in Manhattan and the after after hours dinner on the first night, I was able to connect with their staff in a manner that hadn’t happened before. The team attending the conference were all pleasant people, while also being true believers in making the world a better place with their product.

While not even having a booth at the tradeshow, the Simply Hired team was able to establish themselves as able guerrilla marketers, stealing the show with a circus-like performance at the show’s meet-and-greet, giving away T-shirts. See pics here.

The most impressive aspect of group, however, is their CEO, Gautam Godhwani. I sat down with Gautam for a few minutes to get his take on the industry, as well as get to know him a little better as a person. I think you’ll enjoy his take on the Craigslist shutdown and their partnership with MySpace.

Nice interview. I missed a question about what he thinks about the entry of “horizontal” search engines (Google, Yahoo, etc) into their space (ie, Google Base).

    Great interview Joel and Gautam.

    Bob :-)

I’m a big fan of guerilla marketing–there’s no doubt. When you study generational differences, guerilla marketing tactics are a pie in the face–tasty wake-up calls that may impede your space but certainly grab your attention.

My concern, well, more of a question actually, is how long-term are the strategies of the Simply Hired’s of the world? Maybe I am looking too far ahead, but would be curious to see what percentage of cost and focus is being placed on guerilla marketing tactics for the now and long-term use of SimplyHired several years from now if the market takes a turn like the DOL predicts.
