It would be interesting to take a poll of the general boards and compare their recent hiring rates with those of the niche boards. We've been hiring steadily since last summer and I suspect that we're not the only niche board which is doing so. Business is great.

Maybe the VP's that needed a written reminder of basic "business in the new millenium" principles are the real poor performers. Perish the thought, and call the limo company....I'm off to the HR Dept. post-holiday bash where the booze will flow and we'll brainstorm on how to close those 85 open positions :

Oh, come on. This is a ridiculous whine. What large company doesn't have a policy for identifying and removing poorly performing employees? This is capitalism: if I suck, I expect to be fired.

If you don't have a policy like this, you end up like DEC did or like the government chronically is: overstaffed and under-productive.

Reminding Regional VPs of the need to do this is just sound business.

All hands on deck...drain the boil…fatten the calf…stock up on canned goods and jerky products….its gonna be a long winter, folks.

Polish up your halos and look busy.

Don’t make phone calls, don’t use stamps or the fax machine. Those of you with a company car, please begin riding your bike to/from work and appointments.

Please note that we will be switching to 1 ply toilet paper in the restrooms and each employee is entitled to 3 sheets per day. Further each employee will be issued a lantern and a candle as we will be turning off all overhead lighting.

Don’t hire people ..fire them. In fact, we have recently found that red China has no real restrictions on child labor, therefore effective immediately we will be eliminating all temps and consultants in lieu of outsourcing these jobs to nimble little Chinese children who work 14 hour shifts for chicken and tin-foil.

We appreciate your dedication to our company during these difficult times…

(p.s. please return any leftover items included in the holiday fruit baskets we sent out.)
