If you’re a job site with a local focus in the US, chances are Jobing.com is on your radar. Adding cities at a Craigslist-esque pace, if Jobing isn’t in your local market today, chances are they will in the near future.
As a result, it was no surprise to me when I saw they were on the hunt for an in-house SEO.
You’ll also be responsible for establishing, maintaining and communicating best practices for search engine optimization (SEO) strategy as well as the optimization of other traffic generators such as email newsletters, RSS feeds, and interaction with partner and channel websites.
Good move. The Big Three have a very tough time driving job seeker traffic in local markets organically through search engines and are forced to pay out the nose via pay-per-click advertising because of it. (No wonder they’re allying with local print.)
And with search engines looking to tap into local search more aggressively, such strategies now should pay dividends today and into the future.
Additionally, they’re beta testing a blog community, a la College Recruiter. And as any loyal reader of Cheezhead knows, blogging in this fashion is great for driving all kinds of relevant job seeker traffic, active or passive. I hear even Monster’s doing this in India.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. If Jobing’s move to create a blogging community was positively influenced by us, then I am honored. They’re good people and provide good value to the employers and candidates who use their sites.
