facebook to launch classifieds?

Not sure how this slipped through the cracks of the ‘recruitosphere’ last week (I couldn’t find anything), but reports are surfacing that Facebook is looking into adding classifieds.

The obvious questions for me are 1) Will this include jobs? and 2) How does it effect their Jobster partnership? (It’s worth noting that even though Simply Hired powers MySpace’s job section, they still offer a classifieds piece, which includes job postings.)

Jobster’s Jason Goldberg has told me in conversation that having a Jobs link on Facebook’s main navigation is more or less worthless, which is why they don’t have said link. However, in light of this news, it may be more like Facebook is saving such real estate for their own offering.

Facebook is obviously popular, but adding services that everyone else already has just defrags the marketplace even more…marketplace for jobs, real estate..or what ever. With so much momentum and so much confidence (turning down $1B) you’d think they do something new.
