How long can the long tail get in the Internet recruiting space? A new site called GoldenIslesJobs.com gives us a clue.
The site is part of a local job site network near Savannah, Georgia, which also includes Savannah Jobs.com, Hilton Head Jobs.com, etc. You get the idea. And more local sites in the area are coming soon according to the homepage.
I know little about the site and have no clue of its overall strategy. From a search marketing perspective, it’s always more challenging to set-up new sites as opposed to adding something to a primary domain, but we’re talking about terms and a focus that can’t be that competitive.
Maybe it just scares me to think how micro the Net has gotten and is getting. MainStJobs.com anyone? It’s available?

In an era of the global economy, it makes perfect sense to build sites that are exceptionally local. Given search engines and a knowledge worker’s ability to work anywhere, focusing on an area to live means finding work in the local area or global work that can be done from a particular area.
You find the local work through the local web sites and the global work through others.
It would be interesting to know results off of the different local sites…
