monster says no more interstitial ads

I’m pretty open about my displeasure with Monster’s interstitial advertising. Which is why I’m happy to hear they’re doing away with them, as well as work-at-home jobs, per today’s earnings conference call. Guess someone’s listening.

Here’s their CEO outlining the restructuring plan in light of deep-sixing 800 employees. It’s a bit long-winded, but a must-listen for anyone making a living in the Internet recruiting space.

Aside from doing away with some spam (interstitials are still live, by the way), most notable is Monster’s growth and anticipated blitzkrieg into Asia. Currently, the international market makes up 1/3 of Monster’s revenue, which is sure to grow with billions of new job seekers in the wings.

Thanks for the link Joel; and thanks too for posting the clip from the conference call … very interesting.

Time will tell. That interstitial is still there today. They seem to be in no rush to remove it.
