I don’t really have much commentary on this one. I was just tickled at the following banner ad currently running on UK-based Onrec, which speaks for itself really.
I didn’t even know what it was until looking closer and discovering it was a female putting on pantyhose. The advertiser even promotes the banner on their homepage. Crazy Brits!

Being a crazy brit recruiter, over here in the UK, I thought you would like to know that it isn’t just the financial services advertisers that are trying to make a statement. A very large UK retailer uses its staff to promote their 2007 recruitment campaign in a ‘different’ way……go take a look through their career pages (and yes they are all their own HR Team and there is no photo trickery!).
Here’s another UK site to add to the list, just to show us Brits don’t take our advertising too seriously. Take a look at www.secsinthecity.co.uk - a popular job board for the secretarial sector, owned by Trinity Mirror. The job site uses ’secs’ related phrases in banners ads, clever advertising or poor puns - you decide.
