Considering the push-back my last post on MyBlogLog received from SumZer (hey, he won’t spell my name correctly, so why should I get his right?), the least I could do was write another post on how to leverage the solution in recruiting. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.
Now that you’re familiar with MyBlogLog and how it works, think Internet recruiting. Employers and headhunters are always bitching about not getting in front of enough passive candidates, or active candidates for that matter. Albeit more creative and passive in nature, consider getting your MyBlogLog icon showcased on a myriad of targeted bloggers / candidates, potentially with the skills you desire, or at least in front their audience, which might have the right stuff.
Do this:
- Join MyBlogLog
- Go to Google
- Do the following query: “provided by mybloglog” AND [YOUR TARGET, "NURSING SCHOOL" FOR EXAMPLE]
- Check Google’s results and snippets for blog content that might be worthwhile to visit
- Click on the result(s) that look promising
For example, if you do the search above, you’ll get nearly 100 blog entries. Looking at the results, you’ll see a lot of the bloggers talk about going to nursing school, attending nursing school, etc. So, yeah, if you’re looking to recruit nurses out of school – or nurses, period – this might be a candidate / blogger to start connecting with. I can’t vouch for the quality of all the blogs you’ll visit, but there should be a few promising scribes. It’s no panacea to your recruiting woes, but the risk and investment is minimal considering the possible reward.
You’ll also see other like-minded bloggers in each blogroll who might be better fits. Can’t find gold if you don’t dig, right? You should also feel free to leave intelligent comments on such blogs, with a link to your career site or job opening, but that’s another post. One tip at a time.
