jobster toning down ‘millions and kagillions’ rhetoric

I was tough on Jobster last week in regards to what I believed to be deceptive marketing. Exemplified by their latest round of “Notes,” which, by the way, “get a TON of positive feedback from users saying they love” them (yes folks, tons!), they’ve brought the chest-beating down a bit.

Looks like your group is hiring. To help you best take advantage of Jobster, we wanted to share some best practices.

We can help you post and feature your Jobs at the top of targeted job search results on Jobster.com and across our network of more than 650 partner sites.

I have yet to see, or know of anyone who has seen this list of 650-plus partner sites, but I’m sure they exist and it simply sounds more believable than the 45 million (or whatever it is now) number they were previously touting.

Click here for an image of the actual message and the one that precluded it, touting 30 million visitors on August 10. Shrinking the image makes it illegible. Sorry for the extra click.

P.S. So, out of curiosity, what do you think of Jobster’s “Notes”? For more, checkout Ben Gotkin’s recent post, complete with CEO Jason Goldberg’s commentary. Vote now.

I had an account on Jobster. I hated getting these emails so I closed my account. The worst thing is that I still receive these emails. I once tried to login to see what it said, but I couldn’t because my account was closed and I didn’t want to re-open it.

Apparently I can run, but I can’t hide.

Does anyone know Jason’s email address? I will start sending him some tips on how to stop pissing off his users.

72 people responded to this pole…. this is a very small audience. Tell me why I read this again?

    Nice misspell. It’s ‘poll’ dumbass.

  6. Ben Says:

I was impressed that Jason’s response came only 17 minutes after that Post went up… BTW, I got yet another webinar invite the next day.

Jobster has done absolutely nothing for me or my company. I’ve had a profile and listed various jobs there for over a year with absolutely 0 results.

My advice? Ignore Jobster. Craigslist is still the best (and free) option for posting jobs.
