True Talent Confidentiality

A recent discussion…

A young recruiter with three years of corporate recruiting under the belt replied with a list of typical boards and employee referals when asked how she sourced talent. When asked about the quality of the talent, the reply was fair but hard to find. And when questioned on the number of offer rejects, well she had not given the stat much thought.

Do you think most talent is not willing to put their resume online? Have you considered the number of calls talent receives from recruiters after they are scraped by Zoom, referred on Linkedin or sold on Myndnet? Have you considered that talent might want to remain confidential and in control of their information? Or do they appreciate their personal information ‘out there’.

In the earliest days of Internet commercialization there was talk of talent confidentiality…”the only way to keep talent confidential is to give them total control of where there information goes, when and who sees it” was the cry. Sounds like the plea of talent to recruiters over that old communication device – the phone…”don’t share my information without talking to me first”.

“Confidentiality? ….never thought of that”

Talent wanted true confidentiality then…do they still?
