Competition is good for business. Pressure from Facebook is clearly forcing MySpace to up their game. I’ve noticed considerable improvements in the site’s “up time” and reduction in spam. Additionally, they’ve basically copied FB’s personal “Status Updates” and rumors of a redesign run amok.

In another example, I recently received my first-ever MySpace e-Newsletter.

The newsletter emphasizes everything from new features to video highlights to entertainment exclusives to events. Their employment section fails to get attention, at least in this campaign.

It’s a good thing. MySpace has been pretty complacent since being bought by News Corp. Sort of like a monopoly. Not anymore.

As an avid Myspace user and fan its good to see that they are making the necessary changes to keep up in the game. With all the attention and praise that Facebook has received, Rupert has to step his game up. Now if only they would put some money into their servers to speed things up, now that would be something to give them praise for. Copy-catting is a start I guess, why not jump on the bandwagon of the site that is stealing your users left and right.

And when did you get this newsletter. In all of my ten million Myspace accounts I have not seen it yet. Maybe another sign that things still need to improve! Come on Myspace, you can do it!!
