ny post online classifieds are all kinds of messed up

Earlier this week, Oodle touted their partnership to provide online classifieds to the New York Post’s Web edition. At hearing this, I was taken aback because I seemed to remember others partnering with them for job search.

So, I investigated. Here’s a breakdown:

  1. Oodle only powers certain online classified categories, none pertaining to jobs.
  2. Adicio is the primary engine that provides job content.
  3. Simply Hired provides a secondary Web search, residing on a secondary navigation tab after a first search is done.

Got it? Me neither. (And I probably missed something.) Throw in the fact that News Corp is, in one way or another, tied to all four, be it ownership or partnership, and it creates a particularly potent headache.

And don’t forget about News Corp owning CareerJournal by default of owning The Journal (powered by Adicio, partnered with TheLadders) and MySpace. Come on, Murdoch, just buy ‘em all and get it over with. Chump change.
